Documentation of experiences you can hold in hand and thumb through is something that I find increasingly important in an age in which we take more photographs on the daily than ever before but really only examine a few. And they only live for a few hours before being replaced. If you know me, tangible mementos of the past are important. Thus, I have been wanting to do a follow-up to my first book from 2019 for quite some time and I love this one. I returned to my muse - cyclocross - and It’s essentially a love-letter to the Portland racing scene that I fell in love with years ago. Hopefully it fans the flames of a scene bouncing back and rebuilding post-pandemic. 2022 was a terrific season with wonderful events and I want to celebrate it all. As I hatched the idea during the season last year I realized there is so much photographic talent in Portland that I thought it would be super fun to shed light on them and give space to others as well. I reached out to a number of local photographers and nearly all agreed to contribute some images. A true Family Photo Album.
Organized by each PDX CX event / series, The Family Photo Album is a non-profit endeavor and proceeds from the sale will be used to support racing and other programs as determined by the collective of photographers who contributed to the project.
As you know I always pack around an Fujifilm Instax camera and those are also apart of the book because nothing says a photo album like instant photos.
